Terroir & Vineyard

An exceptional terroir in the heart of the Marne Valley

Champagne la Villesenière

Our estate is located on the heights of Boursault in the Marne Valley, a village also known for its castle and forest.
All of our vinified grapes come exclusively from this unique terroir, guaranteeing a strong identity and a faithful expression of the Champagne soil.

Superficie

Area: 4.2 hectares
of vines, cultivated in separate plots to reveal the unique character of each cuvée.

Encépagement

Grape varieties: Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with particular attention paid to the balance of each grape variety according to the characteristics of the plots.

Exposition

Exhibition : The vines enjoy ideal exposure on the slopes of Boursault, promoting optimal ripeness of the grapes and a lovely freshness in the wines.

Responsible and innovative wine-growing practices

HVE certification: The estate has been certified High Environmental Value since 2016, demonstrating a strong commitment to preserving biodiversity and reducing chemical inputs.

Manual and piecemeal work: Each plot is monitored individually, with manual interventions adapted to the weather and soil type. This approach allows us to extract the best potential from each vintage.

Laurence and Cyrille continued the work started by their parents, but in the 2000s they wanted to go further. ‘We reflected on our winemaking practices, stopped using insecticides and, little by little, began converting to organic farming on a few plots in 2015.’ Their commitment and convictions were total in 2020 and are the best guarantee of the quality and authenticity of their wines.

Winemaking and expression of terroir

Vinification in oak barrels: All cuvées are vinified and aged in barrels, bringing complexity and elegance to the champagnes, while respecting the expression of the terroir.

Vintage wines: All vintages come from a single year and a single harvest, ensuring maximum traceability and authenticity.

Respect for tradition: The estate perpetuates traditional methods while incorporating innovations necessary for the quality and consistency of its wines.
